Travis Scott and Morgan Wallen returned with a controversial performance at the stage at Billboard Music Awards stage on Sunday. Mary J. Blige was acknowledged for her excellence in music.
Morgan Wallen was on stage for his debut major award ceremony following his arrest on camera over a year ago making a race-based word. In the absence of a formal announcement, the pop superstar performed with his four-piece band and performed “Don’t think Jesus” followed by his hit chart single “Wasted in You,” a single from his hit album “Dangerous the Double Album.”
Following his performance the rapper Pusha T gave Wallen the most prestigious country artist award.
“I would like to say “Thank God.’ Also, I want to thank my fans. I’ve got the best supporters,” said Morgan Wallen, who thanked his mother who was his date for the show. He also expressed his gratitude to Billboard for inviting him to the show. He didn’t even talk about the incident from last year that saw the singer in disrepute being slammed by the industry.
“Thank you to my sweet child,” he continued. “You inspire me every single day.”
Travis Scott was the first to perform a telecast show since a massive crowd surge that killed 10 in the Astroworld Festival in Houston in November of last year. Scott performed his track “Mafia” in a chilly Polar-themed set, with heavily restricted lyrics.

Billboard Music Award 2022: Mary J. Blige received the Icon Award for being an influential music creator. The singer, dubbed”the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, was presented the award by Janet Jackson and escorted on the stage by Sean “Diddy” Combs – who was the host of the event and broadcast it live by NBC at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Mary J. Blige stated that she was in the midst of a “dream today” when she was awarded the distinction. She talked about the process of becoming an icon as easy to achieve during her long and successful career.
“I’ve been on this journey for quite a while but it didn’t always appear as you see me today and is packed with hurt and heartache,” she said. “But God helped me to use those emotions and experiences in my music, and that’s where I began my journey in music.”
Mary J. Blige was recognized with an online video montage that featured appearances by Queen Latifah, Gabrielle Union, and Taraji P. Henson. Past recipients included Prince, Steve Wonder, Mariah Carey, Neil Diamond, Jennifer Lopez, Garth Brooks, Pink, Celine Dion, and Janet Jackson.
“I was ghetto-fresh and still am,” said Blige, the singer whose Dr. Dre-produced hit single “Family Affair” was atop the Billboard Hot 100 in 2001 and was one of four No. one albums in the Billboard 200. “So Ghetto, so amazing, and people were frightened by this. Today, everyone wants to be fabulous in the ghetto.”
Maxwell paid tribute to the Michael Jackson album “Thriller” during a performance that marked forty years since Michael Jackson’s 1982 album. The performer stepped on stage wearing shining blue gloves in black and a blazer singing the heartfelt track “The The Lady In My Life.”
Combs acknowledged activist Tamika Mallory by awarding her Tamika Mallory with the Revolt Black Excellence Award. The rapper praised Mallory’s work as an organizer for the Women’s March in 2017, as a proponent of the control of guns, as well as a defender of the Black, Lives Matter movement.
“You are fighting for us in the frontline and we’re just required to show our respect to Queen Victoria,” Combs said before declaring the queen “fearless.”

“While they have arrested the person who committed the murder But they’ve not arrested the person who was responsible for the violence,” Mallory said. “They aren’t capturing the damage and pain. If you’re not taking action at the moment it is actually doing something wrong by not speaking up. I ask you tonight: Get involved, fight for justice.”
In the past, Drake was named top artist, male artist rapper, rap male artist, and album of rap in the category of “Certified Lover Boy.” Drake grew his lead as the most prestigious winner at the time of the awards ceremony with 34 awards.
Olivia Rodrigo and Kanye West also who are known as Ye received six awards in a non-telecast ceremony. Rodrigo was awarded the award for being the best new artist.
He has made a mark in the category of faith-based yet again: He won the title of top Christian musician for only the second time however, he was named the top Gospel artist as well as gospel track for the third time in consecutive years. He also won his top Gospel album in the same year for the first time.
The Kid LAROI has become an all-time winner, taking home the awards for his track “Stay” alongside Justin Bieber – whose Billboard Music Awards winnings climbed to 26.
Doja Cat walked away with four awards. Doja Cat was named the top R&B artist as well as R&B female singer for the second time in a row. year. Doja Cat also won the top R&B album as well as a female artist.

“I don’t do this job for the fame and accolades,” Copeny said. “I do it to help the children back home in Flint who is being poisoned by the waters,” she continued. She was awarded the prize to her by Teyana Taylor.
Becky G, who released the album “Esquemas” on Friday was on stage to perform “Baile Con Mi Ex” and her smash song “MAMIII,” which topped the Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. Ed Sheeran delivered a remote performance from Northern Ireland, where he is currently on tour.
Other acts that took the stage included Miranda Lambert, Meghan Thee Stallion, and Grammy Awards darlings Silk Sonic.
