Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern and Sam Neill speak about age gap of 21 year

Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern and Sam Neill have spoken out about the age difference between them after they were cast as the romantically-involved leads in the original 1993 movie.

Laura has been the role of Dr. Ellie Sattler in three of the series’ releases including the most recent, Jurassic World Dominion with Sam playing her husband Dr. Alan Grant.

“At the time [it] was a completely appropriate age difference for a leading man and lady,” Sam currently 74 years old, said to the newspaper.

“It was never a thought for me until I picked up an issue of a magazine, and I saw an article entitled “Old geezers and Gals”. It was a list of people who look like Harrison Ford and Sean Connery playing with much younger actors. And here I was, at the top of that list. I thought to myself, ‘Come here. This can’t be real.”

Despite the age gap, Laura insists that it was “completely appropriate to fall in love with Sam Neill”.

The 55-year-old said: “And it was only that moment ago when we came back to a state of consciousness about patriarchy that I realized”Wow! We’re not exactly the same age is that right?”

Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern and Sam Neill age gap in 1993 movie

Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern and Sam Neill: Laura Dern thinks that the age gap between her character and Sam Neill in ‘Jurassic Park” was “appropriate at the time.”

The 55-year-old actress starred with Sam, aged 74, as the lead character in the romantic dinosaur blockbuster in 1993. She has since stated that their 20-year age gap was just right back when the film was being created and she expressed her surprise at the way that media picks up on the story.

She added: “At the time, the age gap was an acceptable age gap for a leading male and woman! It hadn’t been thought until I opened a magazine, and it had an issue entitled “Old geezers and gals’. It was about people such as Harrison Ford and Sean Connery who were portrayed as younger individuals. Then I saw myself on the list. I thought, “Come to. It’s not true.’

“But it was totally appropriate to become a fan of Sam Neill. It was only that we came back to a point of awareness of culture about patriarchy and the patriarchy, that I was thinking, “Wow! We’re not in the same generation?”

In the interview with their co-star, Sam said that the “Jurassic'” film series, which has produced six films from its series from its beginning during the 1990s is always a “metaphor for the dangers of uncontrolled business interests.”

He wrote in The Sunday Times: “Jurassic films have always been a metaphor for the dangers of uncontrolled, shall we say, business interests?” Neill is a bit skeptical. “And I’m not in any way antiscience, but one has to be judicious and careful, and Jurassic has always had that theme bubbling under it.” source

The two actors also spoke about how the latest installment of the series differs from the first, which took nearly 45 minutes for people to catch a glimpse at one of the creatures.

“An audience 30 years later wouldn’t find that pace acceptable,” Sam states. “As a result, this film has an action starting from the moment the lights go out. Of course, it also has some quiet moments.”

Laura is then teased: “It’s very romantic.”

Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern and Sam Neill are reprising their Jurassic Park roles in Jurassic World Dominion, Jurassic World Dominion will be on the screens from June 10th.
