Paramount+ has just shared the official first look photo for their upcoming series Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone.
The image depicts the 75-year-old actor who kills their mob boss called Dwight.
Although the adored action actor has appeared in numerous guest spots mostly with his character, Tulsa King will be the first time Stallone appears in scripted TV series.
The series follows Dwight “The General” Manfredi an infamous gangster who is exiled from his mob by a crime chief after being let out of prison following a 25-year prison sentence. Dwight eventually decides to set up his own business in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and form his own criminal family.
The show was created by Taylor Sheridan, who created the Paramount+ series Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown 1883 and 1882, as well as produced and wrote the recent Angelina Jolie-led Those Who Wish Me Dead.
Sheridan has also been an actor famous for her roles in the series Sons of Anarchy and Veronica Mars. Terence Winter is also the show’s showrunner and writer for Tulsa King.
Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone as New York Mob Boss
The first look photo of Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone shows in his full splendor in the role of “The General”. The photo is of Stallone sitting front and center on a busy street, wearing a sharp suit.
The lighting is clear and Stallone is straight ahead in an extremely serene manner. The background of the city behind him is not in focus and makes Stallone the main focus of the photo.
Stallone is a cult actor best known as the actor who played the iconic role in Rocky as well as Rambo franchises. He is making a comeback at the end of.
The action hero has recently returned to his role of Rocky Balboa in Creed and Creed II both box office successes. Stallone was the character King Shark in last year’s The Suicide Squad and will appear in the forthcoming films Samaritan, Expend4bles, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Sheridan is also working on a variety of new projects in his pipeline as well which include the series Land Man, Lioness, Bass Reeves, and 1932.
At the time Tulsa King originally started development, it was to be called Kansas City and would be set in that specific city before being relocated to Oklahoma. MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios are the producers behind the show. Alongside Stallone, Tulsa King will play Domenick Lombardozzi (The Family), Max Casella (Jackie), and Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire).
When the show was originally in development, Deadline reported that Terence Winter— known for his work on HBO hits The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire—would serve as showrunner.
David C. Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, which also produces Sheridan’s other series, told Deadline, “Taylor is a prolific creator because of the multi-dimensional characters he creates and the complex worlds he builds. To be able to have the legendary, transcendent Sylvester playing one of these characters is truly a privilege. And on top of that, we have Terence producing the project with us, who is responsible for some of the most captivating, deeply respected television shows in history. We are thrilled that ViacomCBS has partnered with us to help tell this story.”
Tulsa King does not yet have an actual release date, however, it is stated that Paramount+ plans to release the film in the Fall of 2022 date for its release. source
Tulsa King marks Stallone’s first major TV series with the lead actor, however, the actor has appeared as an actor in shows like Police Story and This Is Us.
Tulsa King is backed by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. It’s created by executive producers Sheridan, Winter, Stallone, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, and Allen Coulter. Braden Aftergood is also scheduled to direct the production.
